Each day in school, we are challenged to be a part of God's story. In Bible, the students are learning about the covenant promises made to Abraham. God promised him great blessings. Abraham acted on his faith and followed God's ways. Perfectly? No, we learned that even Abraham made mistakes and did not trust God always. Yet, God used a sinful man as part of his story. How will God use us?
We have been learning about the Earth in Science. The many rocks and minerals. They way we use the gifts that God created for us in the building of roads and bridges. We use the resources he provided for fuel, heat, and energy. We have discussed ways that we can protect and conserve these treasures from God. How will be pick up the thread and show the world that we care?
In our read aloud, The Miraculous Story of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo, we have learned about the importance of love. What makes us real? In the beginning of the story, Edward (the china rabbit) knew nothing of love. He did not care about love and loved no one. Throughout the story, Edward changes. He meets new folks and learns how to love and how to hurt. By the end of the story, Edward decides that he done with being loved. It is just too painful. Yet, he wonders. "What if there was somebody waiting to love him? What if there was somebody whom he would love again? Was it possible?"
There is somebody waiting to love us...God. He is ready and waiting with arms open wide. He is the one who calls us to pick up the thread and be a part of His story. How will you respond?
